The Pen vs. The Machine: A Writer's Perspective on the Rise of AI

"What does it mean?"

That's the question that echoes in my mind every time our AI dev, Oru, deciphers the latest advances in AI for me. But it's not the technology I'm questioning. It's not the algorithms or the code. It's the implications. It's the future. It's us.

"Are we going to be okay?"

As a writer, the rise of AI can feel like a storm brewing. There's a machine that can write the way I write. It's a chilling thought. And with each new AI development, those fears and doubts are amplified.

“Will I still have a job in the future? Will my work still matter in a world saturated with AI-generated content?”

The truth is, I don't know. What I do know is that AI is a giant wave of change that is already 100 feet tall and growing. And the only thing that my gut is telling me is: ride the wave or be crushed by it.

This isn't a fatalist message to make you worry. On the contrary, we are on the cusp of a revolution and evolution, and that’s always a future worth being excited about.

And although the tech is not without its faults, and there's still much to figure out…amidst these questions, I understand we’ve been given a blank canvas and an opportunity to explore a new frontier, and in this playful curiosity, shape the future.

OpenAI trademarked "GPT5", is this a glimpse of the future? — the AI giant filed a trademark application for "GPT-5," sparking speculation and debate about the development of a more advanced language model, and to the elusive goal of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), an AI system that could potentially perform any intellectual task a human can. OpenAI has neither confirmed or denied the rumors.
